Nick Smith was born and raised in Florida and moved to Orlando in 2011 to attend the University of Central Florida. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Business Economics in 2014 with University Honors from UCF’s Burnett Honors College. While at UCF, Nick worked with various educational and non-profit organizations.

Nick is currently a consultant with Raftelis. He provides financial planning and rate services for local government enterprise funds such as water, wastewater, and solid waste systems. In 2017 he was awarded the designation of Certified Government Financial Manager from the Association of Governmental Accountants. He is currently involved in various industry organizations such as the American Water Works Association, the Water Environment Federation, and the Florida Governmental Financial Officers Association and has a passion for issues related to water affordability, water accessibility, and environmental sustainability. He also serves on the board for the Raftelis Charitable Gift Fund. When he is not working, Nick serves as a mentor for Take Stock in Children’s Orange County chapter - Valencia College Horizon Scholars. By mentoring he hopes to provide college access and other opportunities to low-income high school students. In his free time he enjoys playing and listening to music, running, finding new recipes to cook, and spending time with his wife and cats.
