Associate Director of Foundations and Institutional Relations, Los Angeles LGBT Center
Matthew Brinkmoeller is a seasoned fundraiser and development officer, currently serving as the Associate Director of Foundations and Institutional Relations for the Los Angeles LGBT Center. In this role, Matthew works with private and corporate foundations to secure financial and volunteer support for the Center’s many programs throughout Los Angeles County, including a Federally Qualified Health Center, a senior affordable housing complex, and one of California’s largest youth-oriented housing programs with employment and education services. Matthew especially enjoys the impact of integrated, culturally competent wraparound services that address health and its social determinants, in order to save lives. Prior to joining the LA LGBT Center in 2016, Matthew served as the Director of Development at Brave New Films, a justice-oriented new media nonprofit in Culver City, CA. There, he supported film productions, action campaigns, and education programs across a variety of topics including: poverty, race and racism, criminal justice and the bail industry, the environment, militarization, and Latinx issues. Before leaving BNF, Matthew secured the organization’s largest gift, which allowed for the creation of a diversity-forward fellowship program in filmmaking and campaigning. Originally from Phoenix, AZ, Matthew has called Los Angeles home for the past nine years. He has undergraduate and graduate degrees in political science and history. His interests include exploring the Southwest deserts, traveling internationally, eating great food, and discovering new music.
