Kennedy Tate
She/Her; They/Them
Community Organizer, Housing Network of Rhode Island
Kennedy Tate (she/hers, they/them) is a lifelong Rhode Islander currently living in Cranston with her family. She is an alumna of the Lincoln School in Providence. Kennedy is a proud graduate of the University of Rhode Island, from which she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science in 2018. Kennedy has always wanted to pursue a career in social justice and human rights and to advocate for those who could not advocate for themselves. She decided to pursue a degree in Political Science because she wanted to better understand the various governmental institutions and systems that govern the world we live in and what we can do to implement systemic change. She finds inspiration in the work of political activists such as Angela Davis, James Baldwin, and Toni Morrisson. She has previously worked with the United Way of Rhode Island, Planned Parenthood, and the state Department of Behavioral Healthcare Developmental Disabilities and Hospitals. Kennedy finds nonprofit work alluring not only because it gives her the opportunity to work with such incredible organizations, but also to be a part of something bigger than herself, with the goal of improving the lives of the people in her community. She is currently pursuing applying to graduate school programs for a Masters in Public Administration.
